Closing Question

A Seller who is a family member is offering that instead of going to closing with a title company to just process the deed at our city hall since he has done this once before. Since this is our first closing as a company I want to make sure we are good. Is there anything wrong with this process instead of doing a traditional closing with a title company? Interested to hear your thoughts for or against not doing a closing with a title company and instead doing this process he suggested?

The largest "costs" in a traditional closing is the title searches and title insurance.  Do not buy a property without title insurance, especially if they bought it that way.  You may discover all kinds of problems by doing the title search, and you surely want to know about them now, as opposed to later.
