New to Real Estate - Looking for useful information to get started!

Hello!

To make a long story short, I have always been interested in real estate, but I'm very unsure as to where to start. I'm totally fine using resources like books, online research, and AI, but I was looking for real-life, experienced individuals who could shed some real light. I plan on humbly taking any and all information but most importantly, using this information and never giving up. I'm sure I have a long road ahead of me but we all have to start somewhere.

So basically, I want to get more info on section 8 housing.. whether that's flipping a building and then renting it out, or just purchasing an existing building, and renting it out. Are there any programs that I could explore, regarding loaning money? What should I realistically expect when starting out? Is Section 8 real estate a good start?

I'm fairly young with no experience in this but I'm hoping the BiggerPockets community can be kind and lead me in the right direction. I'm open to all feedback!

Thank you for taking the team to read and I'm looking forward to your expertise!

Hi @Curtis Osawey Welcome to the REI world!!!

All good reading and listening, education is best and if you want to learn you have to ingest as much information as possible.

I read many books that helped me, but my go-to is listeining to at least 2hrs of podcast with real examples per day.

One very important things that "want-to-be" fails is to understand that real estate has many different specialities, so you have to focus your time in your real project. Let us say you want to have a Section 8 rental, then first try to define what you can afford and where is that money will come from. Then look at places where you can buy those properties, and last investigate with HUD what is the section 8 rental in those areas.

In that way, you will collect a lot of knowledge in the process.
