Looking for a place to lease

Ben Gradert
Posted

Good afternoon,

I am helping my in-laws with finding a place to rent in NYC (Chelsea / Greenwich Village area/ Upper West side). My mother in-law just got into art school (at 55, she's SO awesome) they need help finding a place. In their dream scenario they would find someone who is looking for a place in Pasadena, CA where they have a 3/2 house and they could swap places for a year while she goes to school. The odds of that are very slim so they are also looking for help to rent a place. August  (24) - August (25). If you know of anyone out there that could help that would be so amazing!!

Thank you

Hey @Ben Gradert - I'm a broker in NYC and can help with this. Congrats to your MIL on getting into art school!

My $0.02 is that it would be super helpful if your in-laws (or you) set aside a week or 2 to look at apartments in person and apply right away. Rental market in NYC moves pretty quickly and will be hard to coordinate from out of state, unless they're ok with their broker doing virtual face-time tours.

Alternatively, you could potentially try posting about their swap opportunity on facebook groups or a simple google search of Home Swap websites could also yield results. They exist in NYC, but not as common.
