Where can I learn about remodeling styles, trends, and what is popular?

Where can I learn about trends in home remodeling, (ie.  what color schemes or popular, the terms used to describe different styles, what is considered "modern.", what appliances are considered high end or not, etc)

Looking at my local market, there definitely seems to be popular color schemes and styles, though I am a little lost as to what is considered for example modern or contemporary, or a "ranch style kitchen."  I'm starting to think flippers are just making up these terms and applying them however they want.
