How Close Is Too Close?
A property developer built houses near my house in the backside. I currently own 2.06 acres and saw that he is now creating a walking trail extremely close to my property. My question is if there's a distance or a few feet that he is required to stay away and should I have been notified about this how that people are going to be close to my property and have full access to my back yard since there's no fence?

Your property line defines what you own...for structures, there are setback requirements but not for paths. The builder was inconsiderate but most likely well within his legal rights to do what he did. First thing is to call your municipality's building/code enforcement office to see if this was disclosed on the builder's site plan and if it is within code. The best thing you can do is to, of course, enclose your yard to secure it and maintain your privacy. Otherwise, I recommend putting up a clear divide (a string fence, trees/shrubs) with markers that indicate "Private Property, No Trespassing." I would also speak to the developer/builder and ask how he/she intends to landscape/mark the trail. Something might be "worked out" when you inform of your plans to put up signs all along the rear of your property. Might ruin his sales pitch of a peaceful and welcoming walking trail...we can only hope so.
