Compact Combo Washer/Dryers
I'm rehabbing a 9 unit multi-family, where the units are only 500 sf. The market demands in-unit washers & dryers. I've done the 1st three units and the cost was really high between the costs of the units themselves, the plumbing electrical, HVAC/venting, and the closet build-out to house them. I just came across the an LG compact Washer/Dryer that seems to a great solution. It's half the size, can go in under a kitchen counter top just like a dishwasher, and doesn't require external venting since it uses condensation for drying. While these units get great reviews on Best Buy, and overall the cost to install them will be less, they do have some perceived short comings. First, the clothes have a tendency to feel slightly "moist" when they come out (most reviewers said a quick shake and the moistness goes away). Second, the wash to dry cycle takes about 4 hours (but, you don't have to change the clothes from the washer to the dryer). Third, I've heard the clothes come out somewhat more wrinkled.
Has anyone used these combo washer/dryer units in their multi-family and what's been the tenant reaction to them? Any maintenance or other issues?

@Glenn L Katz we’ve had one of the compact all in one LG units in a little studio apartment for the past six years. There have been two different single tenants in there and we’ve had zero complaints and zero service calls.
I think the key is setting the appropriate expectation during the leasing phase. It’s definitely different from what most people (Americans anyway), are accustomed to, so you’ll need to explain it up front.
