Investing in mult-unit properties and placing a certain amount of silver bullion down along side the money acquired for the purchase.

I am anticipating moving into my real estate quest after October 2015, as this is when my bankruptacy can be written off my credit report. I was a single parent when I attempted to buy a property. I didn't win the bid but, learned something. So now as I groom myself for buying multi-family units I would like to know has anyone used silver bullion to place down on a property, and what the implications are when purchased in this manner. I understand at this point that one can own the land and the structure and the principle of " immenient domain" shall be different. I am in the state of Maryland and a woman who stated to me she owned both the land and the stucture, caused a light to go off in my head. What are the advantages and how does this affect the ownership? I personally know of somewone who did this and have not been able to find information as to the practice.
