RE Price explosion: Are investors part of the problem?

I see information/data indicating people wanting to buy a home are discouraged and as many as 70% won't buy because of current market conditions.  And data supports investors are a primary buyer and at least in part responsible for the run up in prices.  As an investor, what is the good and bad of current market conditions?  In your opinion, what does the future hold?

Call me old fashioned, but Im going to say that the increase in the money supply is the main cause of prices rising.
