Roof decking opinions
Hello everyone,
I am purchasing a home that needs a new roof. The roofer has told me today that the old decking wood has wide gaps to where when the new roof shingles are placed that the roof shingles may miss the wood when nailing them in. The cost of putting on new lumber wood for the decking is to expensive for me right now and I decided to roll the dice and put the roof shingles over the existing decking. There is only a few pieces of the roof decking that have gaps but most of it is OK.
I am wondering what the opinions are on my decision to place new shingles over the decking with the gaps that it has? Anyone done this? This is my first time doing a roof repair.
