Converting to a duplex
I'm looking to buy a single family home with great potential to become a Duplex. The only problem is that I know there are certain zoning restrictions on doing that. How can I find out if I am legally able to convert to a duplex without breaking and city ordinances or laws in my area?

Yep sounds like a comprehensive plan map. Another tip. If you determine your good to go to convert. Call the building inspector before you pull a permit and ask to do a visit before hand to go over your plans. You might have to pay them a small fee to do it but it can be very beneficial.
