Government Shutdown Now Affecting Real Estate Closings

This is not a thread to debate the government shutdown (political discussion is against the forum rules), but rather just a warning to people that I just ran into an issue.  10% of our workforce is government employees, and roughly 1% of the entire countries work force, so this is something to be aware of.  On a final lender employment verification for one of my clients, employment could not be verified because the human resource department at this government agency is shut down.

@Chris Mason Im curious if the IRS is still doing tax return verification or not.  If they are not, that affects just about every loan out there.
