One Year In - Thank You
Good morning everyone,
I'm not one to pat myself in the back. At this point I have more questions than when I began. Nonetheless, my feet are officially wet.
I signed up for Biggerpockets in May of 2017 and my mind exploded. I spent, literally, years looking for "my next thing". I make decent money, I save well, I invest anything beyond my emergency fund and thanks to a few years of FANG stocks and a 12 year old 401K at the my life should be pretty awesome at 65. But I'm 33. I don't want to wait that long for my life to be awesome and in my control.
Fast forward to a year after finding this community, I'm 100% this is my next thing. Everyone wants to invest in Real Estate. Early Retirement, House Hacking, Tax Benefits, a steady mortgage instead of rising rents. If only everyone was just taught on HOW. It's intimidating.
After 20+ books, over 200 hours of podcasts, 10+ meetups and actually hosting my own meetup in my living room ... life feels exciting again.
This is not about me. This about you. You can do it. There are extremely generous people here and giving is part of the mantra of many. For every person I've e-mailed and called that shut a proverbial door in my face, I've found someone even better who is willing to share fantastic knowledge, insights and connections because they remember what it was like when they first began.
Property Notes:
3/1/1100 sq feet in Indy. I will be BRRRR'ing in 6 months. 10 year tenant, just signed a new one year lease.
REIA's I REALLY recommend on the meetup app:
Bay Area Real Estate Moguls. I cannot say enough good things about Bobby Sharma.
THRIVE. Also on the app. Beau Eckstein is a master network. The people he puts in front of you, David Greene (yes, the real David Greene) and Vinny Chopra (MFH syndicator) to name a couple are simply incredible. What I love about this REIA is that although we mainly meet in the Walnut Creek and Danville area, he's doing a lot more web based meetups in order to be able to highlight key players in other markets.
David Greene does a FREE meetup every month in Brentwood. I haven't missed one yet. It's great networking and the cookies and lemonade are worth the trip.
If I can be helpful in any way please let me know. This is doable. You will figure it out. When you do, don't forget to turn back and help others.
Thanks BP.
