County doesn't have previous deed

Hi All! I am a vacant land investor and I am currently working on buying a property where the county says they only have the Quit Claim deed form 2003. The property in this area was originally sold in the 80s so I know there should be an original deed with the Grantors of the Quit Claim. Any advice on how to go about getting a deed that the county says doesn't exist?

Thank you!!
