Occupancy Certification Issue

I purchased a primary residence with 5% down through Fannie Mae and signed an occupant certification. I found out a few days after closing that I was losing my job and decided that I could no longer afford to make this my primary residence and decided to rent it out and rent a less expensive condo. I have 4 other Fannie Mae mortgages and have always followed the rules and that occupant certification.

The mortgage company is asking for a letter stating that I moved into the property within 60 days of closing and that I am still occupying it or to send out an inspector to certify it. Is finding out I was losing my job after closing a legitimate reason to not honor the occupant certification?
