Richmond, Virginia area- Need advice

Hey everyone!

I may have a potential job offer near University of Richmond campus. I'm looking to buy, stay for a year or two, then rent long term.  Anyone in the area have any advice?

I'm a little hesitant to buy in an area that I don't know and somewhere where I will not live very long. We would need to stay in the $150k range.  What areas of town should we be looking for?  Is Richmond a decent rental market?

Thanks!

UofR area is not inexpensive. It is a beautiful area with beautiful prices.
The West End of Richmond, in general, is high end. Don't think you'll find much below $200k.
