what gets recorded in a land purchase?

Hi everyone.  On a for sale by owner in the state of California, the buyer purchases a small lot of land from the seller.  The buyer paid cash for the transaction.  Both signed the contract, and the title company handles the paperwork.  After the transaction is completed, what document gets recorded at the County?  Is the purchase price shown anywhere on record at the County?  Thanks.
