Has anyone ever had success with house hacking in Los Angeles?

I live in Los Angeles and I am really interested in house hacking. But after running the numbers, it's looking like it's going to be hard to achieve. Have you achieved success doing this around Los Angeles and surrounding cities? And if so, please share your success story. I don't want to give up on this strategy and I'm hoping it's possible here in California around Los Angeles and surrounding cities. Thank you!!!

Yes, I have done it and succeeded. I now have a portfolio of single family homes in Southern California with great cash flow, great appreciation, and very easy to manage tenants. I've also tried investing in Phoenix as Ken suggested ... sold last year and was a very happy day for me ... never again. Those that "get it" stay local.
