Hello BP

I really want to owner occupy a multi unit building anywhere from 4 to 10 units. I know you can homestead and owner occupy 4 unit buildings however can you do it with something larger than that?

Also in terms of financing an income producing property where I plan to use it as a primary residence, who do I want to borrow money from? Do I want a private investor, a portfolio bank, a big national bank, seller financing, a commercial lender or a combination of these? I have not been making much money since I left my corporate job. Ever since then I have been an independent contractor.

Also how much money do I need to have in reserves to qualify for a multi unit building? I thought I heard somewhere 6 months of rent in reserves but that was for a 3 family.

Thank you
