20 million people...
live in mobile homes.
But the industry peak of new mobile homes built was 1998 when 372,000 were built. Since then there has been a decline in new homes built from 1998 until 2010, when only 49,000 were built. That decline has been reversed and every year since the number of new mobile homes built has increased to the 2014 totals of 64,000. (only 17% of the peak year 1998)
57% of mobile occupants are fully employed, and 23% are retired.
The top 10 states for percent of mobiles are:
SC
NC
NM
WV
AL
WY
KY
MS
AZ
MT
Co-incidentally I've been in 4 of the 10 states in the last week.
