Good House Pics

My picture taking ability is horrible.  Any tips?  I don't really want to invest in a nice camera.  I've got an iphone 4 and a six year old Canon Powershot point and shoot that is 10.0 mega pixels.  

I don't need pics to look crazy professional, but I can never seem to get an entire room in a shot.  I'm doing better now that I researched lighting, but it always seems like I can't get back far enough to get the shot I want of an entire room.  

Just an FYI, my houses are typically mid-60s SFRs with smallish bedrooms and narrow halls.

Any tips?
