Tenant Training Workshop

I teach a Tenant Preparation Workshop at our local Community Youth Services office for kids-at-risk about once a quarter. It's a win/win because I lease 2 units to CYS that they fill and oversee and I get to train the tenants beforehand!  As I evaluate and refine the class I'd like to know what other landlords would want included in a class preparing their tenants! Here's a brief overview of the things I cover:

  • What Landlords look for in a potential tenant.
  • Types of rentals and typical costs.
  • Developing wise financial patterns.
  • The Process of Getting an apartment: applications, contracts, security deposits, etc..
  • How to get your security deposit back.
  • Ways to get evicted:  Eviction process & effects of eviction on your future.
  • Smart Tips when seeking a rental.

 Thanks for all your input!
