Have site questions, please help

I have been here a few weeks and love reading the threads but am having trouble navigating around and figuring out how to do anything.

Questions:

How come some people don't have a follow button? For example Ryan Webber is following me and I would like to follow him. But in his profile and on his posts there is no follow button.

When I want to send someone a message and click PM, a blank message template comes up. But it is not filled in with a name or contact info. Do I fill it in? What do I put for recipient...name? Or will the message automatically be directed to the BP member whose button I clicked?

When I check out the forums I can see the last post and who it was by but not who started the thread. Am I missing something? Given that we can't see the entire thread, the person who started it is often more interesting to me than the person who last posted.

Josh: how I much can I pay you to cancel sexist ads like the millionaire trophy wife campaign? Seriously. How much do I need to donate so that ad doesn't appear on this site? Actually, to be fair you'd need to cancel the millionaire husband ad as well. :) Tell me the number and I will see what I can do. If people posted the same type of content in their threads or signatures, you'd tell them to knock it off. Why allow it as a sidebar ad?
