Limitation to how many connections I can send

So I tried to connect to as many people as I could but now I'm getting an error that I can only send 25 requests. Is there a way where I can retract some of those requests I sent out so that I can send them to others? I recently found a few people local to my area so if I can't go around this limitation I'd rather pull some sent requests out and try to reach people local to my area or atleast are more active.
