Dealing with Contractor Issues

Hi,

I wanted to get some advice on a situation I am dealing with.   I am working with a contractor trying to wrap up a home project.  I gave $500 to buy some windows.  He indicated the windows would take 3 weeks.  Then 3 weeks later  - no windows.   He never ordered them.   After several back and froth's I was running out of time and decided to find someone else and asked for my money back.   He said he would.  Most of this in documented in text messages.   Now 3 months later one excuse after another I have not received the funds.  In fact he has the audacity to tell me he will take me to court.  Seriously !!!

To me it is becoming a matter or principle versus that actual amount (beside I don't like to be lied or threated) Anyone face a similar situation.   So - do I move this small claims or let it go. Open to other suggestions ..

Thanks !

How much effort are you willing to go through to make $500? Your money is gone and you were lied to. Chances are, getting it back is going to be a lot like squeezing blood out of a rock. (It takes a really pathetic/desperate/broke person to cheat someone out of $500)
