landlord wanted to renegotiate price after work is done.
A guy called me for a price to clean up and clear a yard at one of his rentals . Car parts , motors , fenders , bicycles , all junk , but its all metal . And then cut the lawn . So I give him a price of $ 1400 . Total clean up and haul out . Job takes a day , fill a 20 yard can which says xxxxx scrap metal . The owner shows up when the truck is picking up the scrap and it dawns on him that I am getting money for the metal . He wants to know how much and wants it taken off the bill . I tell him that that was factored in , if I took it to the landfill they charge $ 75 a ton , there was 5 tons so he saved $ 375 dump fees . Plus the haul charge .
So I ask him " was i the lowest bid ? Yes
You thought you were getting a deal ? Yes
Was the job done as in the contract ? Yes
But you are making more than I thought . He tells me
I tell him , that doesnt matter how much you think I should make . I did what was agreed upon . The fact that I figured a way to increase my bottom line at no cost to you is my benefit .
he cut me a check
