Is there some sort of Appraiser shortage in Portland, Molalla OR area.  My kids are waiting for a month to get an appraisal for their loan, is this common for the area ?  Do we have to use their appraiser, can we get another ???   Any one available ?  Thoughts ??

Thanks,  DnD

Hey @Doug Rich, yes welcome to the struggle. This has been an ongoing issue for quite some time here in the Portland area, especially for the rural areas. I helped some clients purchase a home out in Eagle Creek, OR in July. We were set to close on August, 30th but couldn't find an appraiser in time. Once we finally found one, I guess there was some sort of confusion with the lender and they backed out. Now, we are told we should have the appraisal done by the end of October and we should close early November. It's been a ridiculous process. Of course you can reach out for another appraiser, however they have to be an AMC that the lender approves.

Best of luck.
