What is the process to get a license in multiple states?

I am set to begin my class next week, and will get my NC license in August. However, I also want an SC license to work in the Charleston area. What would the process be, and how much should I expect to have to pay?

Shouldn't be that hard to call the SC REA (real estate agency).

I'm licensed in OR and WA.  If I want to get paid on a deal out of state, I have to work with a locally licensed RE agent.  However, a lot of times they'll push back saying they can't pay you a referral since you're not licensed there.
