Fear of taking the leap...

Adam Wertz
Posted

Hello,

I've been really wanting to get my RE license for around 3yrs now. I took all the courses 2yrs ago and passed with no problem. I've read a ton of RE books and listened to every podcast available. I have 2 good friends in the business that are top Remax agents in their offices. They both think I have what it takes and so do I. I have a strong work ethic and have no problem putting in 100hr weeks at my current job.

My dilemma is this...I currently make around $85k without having to put in much overtime. I have a very chill position now and it's so easy it's boring. It's completely unfulfilling work but it pays very well for this area. I have a family of 4 to support on this single income. Have 6months of savings and no debt other than a mortgage. Mortgage payment is only $975 so it's easy to make it by on my income and save plenty of extra money.

I would like opinions on what some of you may do in my situation. I've been struggling with this for a long time now but just have a fear that I will not make enough for some reason. The other 2 agents I know say that making over 100k a year is very doable in this market even with a mediocre work ethic.
