Real Estate License

What is the difference between being a Real Estate Agent vs. a Real Estate broker? Is one better or worse?

I’d like to start flipping houses and investing in rental properties. Will either of these licenses help with that?

Here in Alabama, an agent has to work under a broker. The agent is the first step. Once you become an agent and have 2 years experience then you can apply and test for the broker license. The  broker is the higher classification.

Being either one will gain you the abilities to access MLS. Being a real estate agent/ broker also gives you a commission discount on your purchases. I'm a licensed General Contractor, a licensed home builder and an inactive licensed Home inspector. I'm currently studying for my real estate agent license as well. All of these help me as an investor of real estate.
