Is it possible to start in commercial? Everyone I talk to tells me to start in residential then switch to commercial. Commercial is what I love, it is what I like to study and something that I want to do so I can learn and build my own portfolio. Only one person has reached out to me and said I can start in commercial. is it fake or scam am? Am I setting myself up for failure? I want to succeed in real estate wen it comes to being an agent and investing so I want to create the best possible path for myself. A lot of people just say now is a awful time to be an agent and with all the news going on its hard to see through the BS. Can someone give me some insight on this? What should I do?

Are you talking about being a commercial real estate agent or investor? If agent, your residential skills won’t translate to commercial. If investor, some skills will translate but the entry bar is a bit higher (can’t do 5% down unless you get super super creative and even then maybe not, can’t house hack, need more reserves and a more experienced set of professionals by your side) but the upside is better.

The short answer is yes you can just start with commercial
