Insurance for Rental Property Owned by LLC

Rich Le
Posted

I'm planning to rent my house and have some questions about insurance. The house is in California. I plan to use an LLC to limit my personal liability.

For insurance, I am having trouble finding an insurance company that will insure the house owned by an LLC. I checked with some large insurance companies. Some will not insure homes owned by an LLC. One said I would still be the primary and the LLC would be an additional insured party.

My questions are:

1. Any recommended rental property insurance companies for LLC owned houses?

2. Any issues if I place my name as primary and the LLC as additional insured? Does this provide the right level of coverage / protection?

Thanks in advance.  This is my first rental property, and I'm excited to learn more and grow this side hustle into something bigger!
