Do I need a DBA or LLC for rentals?

Hey everyone! I am new to BiggerPockets and real estate investing. I am gearing up to purchase my first rental property, and I did not know if I would need a DBA/Sole prop/LLC to hold the rental property? I am still doing research on how rental income is taxed, along with what can be written off if I set up a DBA to hold the rental. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated!
