Short term rental in a new area
I've listened to a handful of the podcasts on bigger pockets and am interesting in learning more. My wife and I live overseas 9 months out of the year. As our family is growing, we can no longer live in our parents homes in the summer. My goal would be to purchase a place that can be short-term rented 9 months out of the year and then live there in the summertime and at least be able to pay the mortgage without paying out of pocket. We are interested in southern florida, like Fort Lauderdale, because we did a vacation in this area a couple years ago and loved it and I also know that it does rentals all-year round. However, it's a little intimidating because I am not a local of that area and don't know much about it, so what are some articles, podcasts and books that help someone like me learn about investing in a short term rental property in a new area? Any help or direction would be great!
