Real Estate Newbie wanting to connect!
Hello!
I'm hoping to connect with as many like minded people as possible. I'm very eager and excited for this journey.
5 years ago, I picked up a few books in real estate, had bigger podcast saved and listened to a few episodes, and I knew in the back of my head I needed to invest in real estate but I was so blinded by my corporate career and shackled by my golden hand cuffs I just kept pushing it off.
Fast forward to November 2020, my husband and I bought our first home. I'm living in California and he is deployed in Iraq. I saw about 2 homes, it was well within our budget and looked great in photos, we made an offer and that was that. I flew out to North Carolina the day of closing to see the home for the first time.
A few things I thought to myself:
1. That was almost too easy
2. Why was I not more emotional about buying our first home?
Because our phones track and listen to our every move, it was inevitable that Bigger Pockets showed up on my Instagram again.
I listened, thought I need to do this for real and was hooked for the 2nd time. This time I begged my husband to listen and with some push and small argument he gave in and also was hooked. The difference this time vs the last...I've been through the home buying process, sure for us, but that was the scariest part for me.
I'm currently looking in the Sacramento, California area for SFR, Multi-family. My dad is retiring and he'd rather pay rent to me then some apartment complex (yay for long term awesome renters). After this investment deal in Sac our plan is to invest out of state. Or maybe more in Sac!
If anyone would like to connect with me on here please do!
I've always had a grow together, win together mindset in all of the teams I've ever managed and I can't wait to apply it to real estate!
Looking forward to connecting!
Best of luck! There are deals to be found even in CA. They might take a little bit more work, patience, and capital, but can be done.
@Jasmine H. and @Joseph Bafia - I am in Bakersfield, about 2 hours north of Los Angeles. The market here is still going strong, lots of new development going on, including the new Amazon facility, lots of other distribution centers, high speed rail, etc. Happy to chat more specifics if you are interested!
