Phoenix CPA Referral - REI Focused & Relevant

Hi Bigger Pockets Community!

I'm looking for a CPA specialized in Real Estate that can help me put together a plan on how to proceed with my real estate investing.

Current Situation: I recently became a landlord (Dec. 1st) on a Scottsdale condo. For now, I have the security deposit and first month's rent going into my personal account and plan to start an LLC for a separate bank account, clean books, and potential asset protection moving forward as I acquire new properties. As far as current protection, I changed my insurance to a Landlord policy and am requiring rental insurance from tenants. I am using cozy.co for rent collection.

Problem: I have been told different answers on how to proceed. One company quoted me $1500 to set up an LLC, one told me do everything through Turbo Tax, acquaintances who went through Legal Zoom are deferring me to this route as their LLC was not set up correctly and they are having to clean up a large mess, referred CPA's no longer with companies and many more bad/pushy sales gimmick routes that are not in line with my plan

I am a big referral person so I am starting here before Google or Yelp. I would prefer someone local in Scottsdale/Phoenix that I can grow with to develop a course of action on my current rental as well as future multifamily purchases.

Thank YOU in advance!

Lacey

Hi Lacey,

I'm not sure if there are BP member CPA's on the forum from AZ, but there are many who work remotely. The price quote for the LLC sounds a bit excessive. Our firm always recommend starting simply and then building out complexity if/when the asset protection and tax savings warrant it.

Congrats on the new purchase!
