How To Intro Myself at RE Networking Events?
Rookie investor here. Attended my very first networking event (it was for everyone from realtors to maintenance pros) the other evening. I was nervous, of course, and don’t exactly have the best “elevator pitch” as of yet. I met at least a dozen people and handed everyone a card, but when introducing myself (and “what I do”), I felt very awkward. I said, “I’m Angie and I’m just getting into the real estate wholesaling business.” In every single case, every person asked for an explanation. One person — a veteran realtor — basically gave me the Third Degree... honestly making me feel badly for what I am choosing to do. :-( I was still very nice to her and I think I won her over (not that I needed to).
Anyway, long story short, I’m wondering how best to introduce myself at these events. Thanks in advance!

@Angela Lucas congrats on jumping in! I too am a newbie but come from a background of sales and networking so I never really stress those situations, however I wasn't always comfortable with it. Obviously, like everything, it will get easier with time. But try to remember, these are just people. There's nothing extra ordinary about them. They have kids, wives, bills. They eat, sleep, poop just like you (Everybody poops)!
Just be you, go with the intention to ask questions and learn. Don't try to hide the fact you're new, this community embraces newbies that are willing to listen and learn.
A good opener might sound like, "I'm an aspiring real estate investor, looking to learn from the pros, like you! What's the coolest deal you've done".
Take the focus off of you and let them blab. Listen. Learn.
Good luck, don't quit!
