I'm new to investing as well as the BP community. I researched a bit on line about different investing websites and podcasts and Bigger Pockets seemed to have a good vibe. I started listening to the podcasts and poking around the website. And then a couple things happened. I listened to a podcast where Josh Dorkin went off about having good character, and his distain for unethical slime balls in the industry. I got shivers and knew he was the real deal.  He is officially my new hero. The other thing was seeing this.

This is the team behind Bigger Pockets. All of these people are here to make sure you succeed in real estate. You get years and years and billions of dollars worth of knowledge and experience...FOR FREE. Take a second to let it sink in. You get all of this knowledge for free. There are people active in the BP community that are so filthy rich, your head will spin. These same people spend hours a day contributing on the forums and blogs and ask nothing in return. They have no business wasting their time helping out newbies like you and me, but they do. So...figure out what skill or aspect of investing you can bring to the website, and start adding your thoughts to conversations. There are so many forums and topics, and I know you have a unique perspective and have specific knowledge that many other members don't know about. So you can be brand new and you can still get active on the site and add value.  Good luck and don't give up!

It really is a true gold mine of free, honest advice for real estate. I think the biggest part of bigger pockets is how much they push whole life style changes, which really can make a person go from being lazy and depressed to focused driven and confident.

I was introduced to real estate investing by the rich dad poor dad company, but was dissuaded by their for profit workings. It was by chance I found bigger pockets and I knew I found home, because of the many reasons you have listed above. There is such a great culture on this website, and the fact that it is all free amazes me, I am glad to see someone else appreciating it as well !
