Working in Real Estate

I currently work as an RN at a VA Hospital. The job pays the bills and give me health insurance for myself and family but after taxes and all that I'm bringing home $3200 (after taxes and insurance, before bills) a month so its not like i'm making a ton. My dilemma is that I feel like all my time spent at work is wasted beyond simple intake of money (my health insurance is portable so I could take it with me).

I am working on getting into real estate and real estate investing but would like to maximize my time spent at work and make it real estate related in some form or fashion.  I do have a funding agreement settling into place soon so there will be that but it'll be a slow start which is fine.

My question:  What jobs are out there, real estate related, that can make a solid income and help me continue to learn while paying bills as I work on the side to start acquiring buy n hold stuff?  There the real estate agent angle but that typically requires quite a bit of contacts and networking and doesnt pay if you dont you sell right?  What other stuff is out there?  Thanks yall.
