Chicago (Read: expensive)
I was curious if anybody had experience starting in REI in Chicago. It is a very expensive market, and even just outside of the city, but within Cook County, there is not much room for error. I would like to either flip or buy for rental in an undervalued area for various reasons, one being that the cost/risk might be more in my ballpark. Has anybody had any experience in Chicago area that they might share regarding this type of venture?

Chicago and its suburbs are very diverse in its opportunities. There are areas where houses can be bought for under 50K. There are parts of the northside that are extremely expensive - upscale real estate. Where do you want to start?
