pros to a short sell

Medical issues with our son is pushing us to move to sea level. We owe 166 and could possible get someone to buy for 145-166 per our realtor due to market and condition of the home. We are current on our payments but we don't have the 15,000 in the bank to cover all of the fees even if we did sell it for 166. The lender said they would do a short sell but everything I have seen short sells take off over 10,000's and we would just be short a little... is it worth it?
