Taxes for beginners - can you please point me towards a resource?

Hello!

My father is in the process of flipping his first home. He is very nervous about taxes. Since I have an accounting degree (not a CPA), he expects me to be able to learn all there is to know in a few hours. In reality, this stuff is like Chinese to me.

What I'm looking for is a very basic guide for beginners about navigating taxes. When I try using Google or searching around BP's forums and blog posts, I get thousands of hits and very overwhelmed. I'm looking for something very straightforward. Anything formatted in a step-by-step format is best for my comprehension.

We're trying to find a knowledgeable CPA in our area, but haven't had any luck so far.

Thanks in advance.
