Contacting a Broker before getting a licence
So I was given the advise to reach out to local Brokers before I take my real estate licences test. I have no idea what the communication would sound like.
Some background info: I am about a fourth of the way through my 60 hour pre-licensing courses. I'm giving my self about two months to finish the course, study for the test and sit for the exam. I'm a engineer and work a 40 hour a week, 8 am to 5 am job. I would love to be able to jump right in as a full time real estate agent as soon as I get my licence but that is not practical right now. My plan is to be an agent part time -- which is another reason I am hesitant to just call up a broker.
I want to be an agent who invests and can be a resource for other investor. I do hope to be able to become a full time agent at some point but think the timing of that will probably depend on a lot of different factors. Right now my long term goal is to purchase buy and hold properties.
So should I be calling brokers before I get my licence and how do I get them to take me seriously as a potential real estate agent on a part time basis.
I have been reading books, blogs, articles etc and listening to podcasts and I realize every investor must set their own path but I am asking for words of wisdom and advice from the BP community.

Tanya, congrats on getting your license, although many members on BP look at Realtors as used car salesmen. I am a Realtor and there are good and bad as in any profession.. I commend you for having the investor mentality. I would ask brokers while interviewing , how many, if any, personal transactions are allowed per year without having to pay the company towards your cap. Also find out what training they provide in after hours for people as yourself starting out that are part time while they get things rolling. Please feel free to reach out. Best of luck.
