Help in Dallas/ Fort Worth

Goodmorning BP! I'm Trey & I'm currently an 18 year old college freshmen seeking the path of financial freedom via real estate investing. (Dallas/ Fort Worth Area) I admire bigger pockets for the conglomerate of information that they have to offer. But id love to network with other like minded or established individuals. "A man is known by the company he keeps", as all of my peers are stuck in the traditional "get a good 9-5 job" or are too interested in unproductive activities, that'll hinder success. I don't want my hand to be held, but I am yearning for that bit of direction that sets me up to stand on my own two feet. I've been to several local Real Estate Investing seminars, but they all ended up being sales pitches. Was wondering if anyone in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area had any advice (that I could apply immediately) to help get me started to building my REI business.
