Should you partner on your first purchase?

I'm filling my mental bookshelf and getting ready for my first property acquisition. My question is:
What are your thoughts on making your first purchase with a partner? Should you try to do your first on your own, make mistakes and learn from them? Find a seasoned partner? What if that first partners partner is you (Both are newbies)?

I'd love to hear what BP members have to say.
