Tips on finding properties for sale?

Hey everyone!

I'm new to Bigger Pockets and I look forward to spending time on the site and learning as much as I can.

I was wondering if someone can give me tips on where to locate properties for sale? I currently own the house I live in and have about $50k equity in the property. It took me months to find the house, another 4 months to close (it was a short sale), and by the time I rehabbed the house with my own cash I didn't really get ahead. Sure, I have a nice home to live in with my family which is great, but now my plan is to find a house to flip.

I'm not sure the best place to start as I search for deals….looking through realtor.com and working with my realtor isn't giving me a lot of options. I think one of the keys to a profitable flip is buying the house at the right price but I'm having trouble finding cheap properties. I live in Kansas City.

Thanks for the help!
