Online job source for R.E.
Anyone have a good one?
I've been doing some job searching lately and would like to get into the real estate field. It's almost been impossible to find jobs in real estate investing companies. I'd like to get into research, finance, anaylsis...etc. Nothing really turns up using Monster, Hotjobs, Career Builder...etc.
Most of those jobs are either in property management, accounting or leasing. Any of the jobs that sound good are usually very high up and well over my head.
I have only been out of college for a little under 2 years. I have a B.S. in Management and I am currently just starting my Masters. I work for one of the biggest financial firms as an accountant, it flat out sucks. I am just not interested in what I do.
As you all know from some of my prior posts I am just dying to get started on REI myself. But lack of cash and inexpereince is holding me back. I have been reading as much as possible in the last 8 months or so. I am always looking for properties. I read here frequently...etc I just don't feel comfortable diving in just yet. As they say..."only fools rush in"... so I am still trying to do all my hw before I get caught up in the excitement of it all.
That being said a career change is need and I'd like to maybe get some expereince in the field so eventually I can go out on my own.
Next week I start a 2 week, pre licesning course and I will be taking the sales person exam. I am not doing this because I want to be an agent I am simply doing it to learn more about the industry and hey..who knows...maybe license will come into play later on down the road. It can never hurt. $200 for the course + book and $75 for the test. All in all I think its worth the investment and It will definately help me learn more.
Does anyone have a good way of searching for jobs in REIT's? I search in google for Boston REIT's and it gives me a list of companies. I go to their websites and look for jobs but 90% of them don't list anything. I have called, sent resumes...etc. Nothing seems to be working.
Thanks for the advice!
P.S. I can't wait to just run my own life someday and not have to deal with all this B.S. other companies put you through.
