Different avenues to create independence???

Hi everyone. I'm brand new to this site and forums but currently seek advice on how my wife and I can take the first step towards becoming real estate investors to replace our current jobs. We were lucky to purchase a short sale home a few years ago and sell it for a profit of $30k. We recently purchased a foreclosure in a top neighborhood with great schools, low taxes, etc. We have put a lot of work into it, and recently witnessed an almost identical house down the street sell in 10 days. We feel we are in a good position to sell in a couple years and make another $30k-$50k realistically. We intend to move from the Cleveland area and into South Carolina, possibly Charleston. Is this amount of money enough for us to start our path to freedom through different real estate avenues? How can we turn our smart buying of the past into a real "career"? I am also wondering if it is worth it for one of us to get our real estate license. Thank you for any and all advice.
