Career Plan - Good or Bad?

I just wanted to bounce this off some of the regulars and get some input.

I am only 1.5 years out of college(management/finance B.S.) working and an investment firm doing accounting. I am looking for a career change because this is DEFINATELY not where I want to be or what I want to do.

Now ultimately my goal is to become independately wealthy from REI(various goals of flipping, holding and renting. Not in any particular order). But for the mean time I need to find a full time job with benifits so I can save up and get ready for that jump.

Since I have a geniune interest in the RE field I was thinking about something along those lines, something that would help prepare me for investing.

I was looking into Home Inspector or Home Appraiser. Going out taking the required classes and getting liscensed. Anyone know if these careers pay well, how big is the job poool, would it be extremely difficult to find a job doing that? I even thought about taking a real estate sales person course but not going to the license, because of the problem agents run into when trying to invest for themselves.

My theory is that taking one or both of those courses and getting that knowledge will save me in teh long run when doing my own deals and investments. In the mean time I could have a steady job, make some $ and learn the business before I jump in.

Anyone want to send me in a direction? Thanks!
