I highly recommend Mike Helfant and the FIRE Reality Team! As a European investor, you have the disadvantage of not physically being there. It is important that the people you partner with are trustworthy, have integrity and are available when you need them. You also want a transparent process of which you know all the steps in advance. Mike and FIRE Realty provided all of that and more! Their expertise and unwavering support were amazing. From the very beginning, Mike took the time to assess what I wanted and provided lucrative investment opportunities. I cannot say enough good things about the FIRE Team! Mike and Joe were with us every step of the way, including answering our many, many questions, offering suggestions and feedback as we prepped and staged the house, and keeping us informed throughout.
Listing day came and the FIRE Team really pulled out all the stops. It felt like we were on the floor of the New York stock exchange as the flurry of offers came in. What could have been an extremely stressful time was, in fact, fun! We were kept up to date continuously throughout the sale process. There wasn't a single time where we felt out of the loop or that we needed to ask what was happening.
The multiple offers that Mike was able to negotiate were, frankly, far beyond anything we expected. We ended up with an offer that met every need we had, and then some!
Not every house will go so far above asking as ours, but you can be assured that the FIRE Team will absolutely get you the best offer possible for your home.
We will continue to recommend them to anyone and everyone we know that may be looking to buy or sell a home!

I have had experience with many Realtors over the years, both as an owner-occupant and an investor. Despite claims of expertise in investor purchases, none matched the knowledge and experience I discovered Jessica Caldwell of the FIRE Realty Team has. Recently, I hired Jessica to purchase a duplex, and my Mortgage Broker for this transaction was Rosanne Carron of Advisory Mortgage. Rosanne was exceptional as well.

I cannot praise Nick enough for his exceptional service in helping us sell our house within a strict timeline. Nick and the Fire Realty team has been a great asset for an out of towner looking to buy in Michigan. I had a deadline to work around and we feverishly looked for places for months and finally found a place that checked all the boxes. A lot of the process had to be done virtually but that’s not to say there wasn’t a personable touch. I've been working directly with Mike Helfant on the FIRE team and he has been super helpful/valuable in so many ways.
I'm a new out of state investor and new to the Detroit market. Mike helped me understand the ins/outs of Detroit (which is super important) - ensuring I didn't get lured into the super cheap warzone properties that only looked good on paper.
He provided me from the get go an extension list of resources for everything I'd need (contractors, lenders, property managers, etc. etc.) and many other things.
I was also able to get a great discount with my property management company just by mentioning that Mike had referred me to them.

I worked with Richi and he was great! Great communication and put me in touch with anyone else I needed along the way. He help me narrow in on the right property and we closed on our first property today. We made 5 or 6 offers before we got the right one, but it was worth it. Richi helped me negotiate a new roof for the house, paid for completely by the seller. Highly recommend Richi and his team.

I worked with Jessica Caldwell from the Fire Realty Team on my first investment property. She was great from the start and always had great advice. She was knowledgeable about the area, type of properties, price points and the market rents.

I just closed on my first deal (2-bedroom SFH long term rental) with FIRE Realty Team and the process was smooth and stress free from start to finish. I can confidently say I will be doing my next few deals with this team.
Nick Harris was my realtor, from our first phone call he listened to my investment strategy; immediately understood and recognized my market. He set up a great daily search and edited it when I asked. What I appreciated most was that he gave me insightful feedback on potential properties I sent him, not just a generic “that one works, rent potential of $X”. He would share what was known about the property beyond the listing description and provide potential offer strategies to be competitive. Also, in addition to the search he sets up based on your own parameters, he sends emails with quick but comprehensive breakdowns of great off-market deals multiple times a week.
Once we found a property, he submitted my offer quickly and used effective communication to get my offer not only considered but accepted; fast! The inspection process was equally as smooth, and Nick kindly took an exterior and interior video of the property for me as I am out of state. From then I was taken care of by the transaction coordinator team for the paperwork side of the deal. Brissa was my coordinator and she was excellent too. She had clear, timely communication and gave some very helpful information throughout the process.
I would recommend this team to newbies and experienced investors alike. They take the time to both listen and explain, and they make all step of the process seamless. I look forward to working on my next deal with them and I will update this review once I have!

I worked with Mike Helfant from Joe's team. He's extremely knowledgeable, plus, went above and beyond to get me right feedback, get things done in a professional manner. Based on previous experience with other realtor, I thought he stops responding after the deal done, however, I am wrong, he still gives you time to get things going, which I really respected. Another thing that I liked is "weekly status updates", you'll get to know where you're at while processing, which is really good to have. So you know things are moving or any other roadblocks. I am a big fan of the Biggerpockets Podcast, and listen to it using YouTube. It was through reading comments about one of the podcast episodes that I discovered Joe from FIRE Realty in Metro Detroit.
What attracted me to FIRE Realty instantly was reading their information on their website. The realty group is named after the FIRE movement, Financial Independence Retire Early, which aligned exactly with the goals my husband and I have for ourselves. Not only FIRE Realty is experienced working with real estate investors, but they are also experienced working with out of state real estate investors which was our case.
FIRE Realty connected with Nick Harris to work with us as our real estate agent. If you ever read the book by David Greene "Long Distance Real Estate Investing", Nick seems like a realtor that came straight out of David's book. Now, if you haven't read the book I mentioned, imagine the best realtor you could dream to have as a real estate investor... that's Nick Harris!!!
Nick is very knowledgeable on his real estate market. He sells a high volume of properties every year, which attracts many sellers to send deals directly to him. He will have a phone call with you and get to understand your buying criteria, and from there deals will be sent to you pretty much daily. Nick, and FIRE Realty, also provide their buyers with an Excel spreadsheet with all imaginable resources a real estate investor could need: property managers, attorneys, lenders, cleaners... that's HOURS of research time saved, a tremendous amount of value!!!
In addition, Nick's best qualities in my opinion is how professional he is and how quickly he responds to messages. If you are comfortable communicating via text, Nick will reply within MINUTES, and provide a well thought reply.
Lastly, I asked Nick for assistance negotiating when it came time to put an offer in. He said "no problem" and when it came time to negotiate he got us a property 15% bellow the original asking price.
I highly recommend Nick Harris to any real estate investor interested in the Metro Detroit real estate market.

Richi Brown is the most dedicated, professional, and genuine agent I've ever worked with. I was looking for an investment property in the Metro Detroit Area and was referred to him. Since I live out of state I needed someone that I can trust and will be my boots on the ground. I can't say enough about the entire team at FIRE Realty. I initially reached out to Joe because of his impressive portfolio. Working with agents who are investors themselves, was a must have for me. He linked me up with one of his Agents, Jessica Caldwell. Jessica is an absolute rockstar of an agent. She's knows the market real well and is investor savvy. She's quick to communicate through text or a phone call and is honest. I had a few deals fall through for inspection reasons and we discussed what I was looking for in the next property and within a few weeks she sent me a great deal and we jumped on it.
As an out of state investor you need to be comfortable with your team and this is where you need to start to work towards building wealth.

Well, From the first call with Richi I knew I had found my team. Being an investor himself, he was super knowledgeable about the market and was able to get us going quickly based on our criteria.

I was investing from out of state, and had an underwhelming experience with a previous agent before finding Nick and his team. I worked with Nick in Joe’s team. He is incredibly resourceful and knowledgeable. As a first time OOS investor, he really helped me learn a lot throughout the process. Giving me guidance, helping me realize when it is the time to make a move without making me feel pressured.
He is one of the most high-producing agents that I’ve worked with so far and he runs BP reports for every single property that I’m interested in. Joe Hammel is very knowledgable about the investment landscape in Detroit and made our investment property purchase very simple. He took us on a tour of dozens of houses during our weekend there and was able to locate some very good potential cash-flow positive investment properties. I'm a new out of state investor and new to the Detroit market. Mike helped me understand the ins/outs of Detroit (which is super important) - ensuring I didn't get lured into the super cheap warzone properties that only looked good on paper.

I just closed on my first deal (2-bedroom SFH long term rental) with FIRE Realty Team and the process was smooth and stress free from start to finish. I can confidently say I will be doing my next few deals with this team.
Nick Harris was my realtor, from our first phone call he listened to my investment strategy; immediately understood and recognized my market. He set up a great daily search and edited it when I asked. What I appreciated most was that he gave me insightful feedback on potential properties I sent him, not just a generic “that one works, rent potential of $X”. He would share what was known about the property beyond the listing description and provide potential offer strategies to be competitive. Also, in addition to the search he sets up based on your own parameters, he sends emails with quick but comprehensive breakdowns of great off-market deals multiple times a week.
Once we found a property, he submitted my offer quickly and used effective communication to get my offer not only considered but accepted; fast! The inspection process was equally as smooth, and Nick kindly took an exterior and interior video of the property for me as I am out of state. From then I was taken care of by the transaction coordinator team for the paperwork side of the deal. Brissa was my coordinator and she was excellent too. She had clear, timely communication and gave some very helpful information throughout the process.
I would recommend this team to newbies and experienced investors alike. They take the time to both listen and explain, and they make all step of the process seamless. I look forward to working on my next deal with them and I will update this review once I have!

I worked with Mike Helfant from Joe's team. He's extremely knowledgeable, plus, went above and beyond to get me right feedback, get things done in a professional manner. Based on previous experience with other realtor, I thought he stops responding after the deal done, however, I am wrong, he still gives you time to get things going, which I really respected. Another thing that I liked is "weekly status updates", you'll get to know where you're at while processing, which is really good to have. So you know things are moving or any other roadblocks. I highly recommend Mike Helfant for friends, collogues and family. I am sure he wont disappointment.

I am a big fan of the Biggerpockets Podcast, and listen to it using YouTube. It was through reading comments about one of the podcast episodes that I discovered Joe from FIRE Realty in Metro Detroit.
What attracted me to FIRE Realty instantly was reading their information on their website. The realty group is named after the FIRE movement, Financial Independence Retire Early, which aligned exactly with the goals my husband and I have for ourselves. Not only FIRE Realty is experienced working with real estate investors, but they are also experienced working with out of state real estate investors which was our case.
FIRE Realty connected with Nick Harris to work with us as our real estate agent. If you ever read the book by David Greene "Long Distance Real Estate Investing", Nick seems like a realtor that came straight out of David's book. Now, if you haven't read the book I mentioned, imagine the best realtor you could dream to have as a real estate investor... that's Nick Harris!!!
Nick is very knowledgeable on his real estate market. He sells a high volume of properties every year, which attracts many sellers to send deals directly to him. He will have a phone call with you and get to understand your buying criteria, and from there deals will be sent to you pretty much daily. Nick, and FIRE Realty, also provide their buyers with an Excel spreadsheet with all imaginable resources a real estate investor could need: property managers, attorneys, lenders, cleaners... that's HOURS of research time saved, a tremendous amount of value!!!
In addition, Nick's best qualities in my opinion is how professional he is and how quickly he responds to messages. If you are comfortable communicating via text, Nick will reply within MINUTES, and provide a well thought reply.
Lastly, I asked Nick for assistance negotiating when it came time to put an offer in. He said "no problem" and when it came time to negotiate he got us a property 15% bellow the original asking price.
I highly recommend Nick Harris to any real estate investor interested in the Metro Detroit real estate market.

I had a great experience working with this team, and I will definitely be working with them again on future opportunities! Nick was my agent helping me acquire my first investment property, and Ani helped out as transaction coordinator. Every step of the way, Nick and Ani were quick to respond, thorough, and able to answer any questions I had. We had a challenging negotiation situation with the seller of the property, and Nick did an excellent job speaking on my behalf and helping me get a wonderful deal.

Richi Brown is the most dedicated, professional, and genuine agent I've ever worked with. I was looking for an investment property in the Metro Detroit Area and was referred to him. Since I live out of state I needed someone that I can trust and will be my boots on the ground. I can't say enough about the entire team at FIRE Realty. I initially reached out to Joe because of his impressive portfolio. Working with agents who are investors themselves, was a must have for me. He linked me up with one of his Agents, Jessica Caldwell. Jessica is an absolute rockstar of an agent. She's knows the market real well and is investor savvy. She's quick to communicate through text or a phone call and is honest. I had a few deals fall through for inspection reasons and we discussed what I was looking for in the next property and within a few weeks she sent me a great deal and we jumped on it.
As an out of state investor you need to be comfortable with your team and this is where you need to start to work towards building wealth.

Living nearly 2,000 miles away from the property that your buying makes the process even more scary. Nick, Mike, and the entire team at FIRE did a fantastic job in helping me and my fiancé purchase a commercial rental property in Roseville. I purchased my first investment property in November of 2021. Richi was my agent and couldn’t have been a better fit. When I originally reached out for support in the summer, he called me and we spoke for 30 minutes while he compiled all of my wishes. I found Richi and the FIRE Realty team through recommendations on BP. I was looking to invest in the Detroit market as an out of state investor and it’s my first investment property. Easy, right?
Well, From the first call with Richi I knew I had found my team. Being an investor himself, he was super knowledgeable about the market and was able to get us going quickly based on our criteria.
We found our first deal super quickly but the financing fell through. Richi provided a wealth of well vetted contacts that were able to help get everything sorted. We got the financing sorted and landed our first property within the next month.

I was investing from out of state, and had an underwhelming experience with a previous agent before finding Nick and his team. From our first call, I knew I had found a solid, knowledgeable, and reliable agent, who was just as excited as I was to work together and find deals.

I worked with Nick in Joe’s team. He is incredibly resourceful and knowledgeable. As a first time OOS investor, he really helped me learn a lot throughout the process. Giving me guidance, helping me realize when it is the time to make a move without making me feel pressured.
He is one of the most high-producing agents that I’ve worked with so far and he runs BP reports for every single property that I’m interested in. What differentiates him from other agents is he has been constantly bringing me deals as opposed to just setting me up on auto research and letting me figure out which deals are good myself. It is profoundly helpful in terms of helping me understand the market and learn the underwriting process. Now I feel much more comfortable and confident in my real estate business. Ofc I learnt some lessons and have discussed with him on those and we will do certain things differently in the future. He is very acceptable to feedbacks too.

I worked with Michael Helfant and Joe during my search for an investment property in Michigan. As an out of state investor, the experience was incredible from start to finish. Michael crunched the numbers on several potential properties, sent over the ones that fit my parameters, and was extremely responsive when I had questions. Working with Mike, Joe, and Ani from the KW Team has been an absolute pleasure. As a first-time homeowner and a new real-estate investor, Mike and Joe provided an invaluable amount of support, from our first meeting onward. Mike was very detail-oriented and thorough when working to understand my goals and preferences, as was incredibly helpful when walking me through the home-buying process. I’m a foreign investor miles away from the state that I planned to invest in so before choosing a real estate agent.
I conducted a lot of research to see who would be the best choice based on the investment they make (time and effort, not necessarily financially) into Helping me with finding the right property for my first investment, it was very important to me to find the right person that I will be able to trust

Joe Hammel is very knowledgable about the investment landscape in Detroit and made our investment property purchase very simple. He took us on a tour of dozens of houses during our weekend there and was able to locate some very good potential cash-flow positive investment properties. Once we chose the property, he handled every step of the process for us: negotiated an excellent price, getting fixes done, watched out for common concerns that are specific to the Detroit area, etc....no request was too much for him. We will definitely use his services for our future purchases.

Joe is an outstanding agent and all around solid guy. I just closed on my first investment property and have a second under contract. He's been a complete professional. Hard working, smart, a savvy negotiator, a great communicator, and always on the ball. He made a point of getting to know me and my real estate goals and used that knowledge to serve my interests effectively.
As an investor himself, he's aware of the types of deals and strategies that are out there. This was particularly helpful early on when running numbers on deals. I cannot say enough good things about the FIRE Team! Mike and Joe were with us every step of the way, including answering our many, many questions, offering suggestions and feedback as we prepped and staged the house, and keeping us informed throughout.
Listing day came and the FIRE Team really pulled out all the stops. It felt like we were on the floor of the New York stock exchange as the flurry of offers came in. What could have been an extremely stressful time was, in fact, fun! We were kept up to date continuously throughout the sale process. There wasn't a single time where we felt out of the loop or that we needed to ask what was happening.
The multiple offers that Mike was able to negotiate were, frankly, far beyond anything we expected. We ended up with an offer that met every need we had, and then some!
Not every house will go so far above asking as ours, but you can be assured that the FIRE Team will absolutely get you the best offer possible for your home.
We will continue to recommend them to anyone and everyone we know that may be looking to buy or sell a home!
