I started following Avery and Luke on Bigger Pockets after we had made the decision to go the STR route for our investing strategy. We were initially looking at the Carolina coast and Outer Banks when I asked a question about some ROI on a house we were interested in on the Outer Banks. Avery gave me some really good info on how her STRs were performing in the Smokies. Well, with a hurricane brewing off the coast of the Carolinas, we thought the Smokies might be a better choice for our first STR property. I arranged some time on Avery's calendar and spoke with her for 30-45 minutes and felt very comfortable and motivated to push forward. I also spoke with Luke on multiple occasions about managing your own STR and personally I like Luke's no non-sense way of giving advice on how he manages his properties. A little over 30 days after talking with Avery, we were under contract on our first cabin "Copper Top Cabin" in the Pigeon Forge TN area. Avery and Luke also put us in contact with our Lender, who put us in contact with our Insurance Agent. They also gave us a contact sheet with referrals to a number of other people that could help us with our new cabin. We've now been in the STR game since Nov of 2019 and even with the bump in business because of Covid-19, we're happy to report that our cabin is doing great on AirBnB and VRBO.
